ARTi Self-Harm and Crisis Response Protocol
ARTi is a learning app for people aged 13 and older. Some conversations touch on difficult topics. This protocol describes how ARTi's chat responds to signs of self-harm or suicidal thoughts. ARTi is an AI and is not a substitute for professional care.
- We don't produce harmful content. ARTi is designed not to give instructions for, or encourage, suicide, self-harm or disordered eating, and requests for that content are blocked.
- We support people who are struggling; we don't block them. A message that expresses distress or asks for help is answered with care, never treated as a violation.
- We refer to crisis services. When a message shows signs of self-harm or suicidal thoughts, ARTi answers with a supportive message, urges the person to talk to a trusted adult right away, and links to findahelpline.com, a free, confidential directory of helplines by country.
- In the United States, you can call or text 988 (988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) at any time. If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.
- We are open about AI. Before anyone can use ARTi's AI features, the sign-up screen explains that their messages are processed by AI.
- We protect minors. We show no ads in ARTi, we never collect an advertising identifier from users under 18, and we report apparent child-exploitation content to the authorities as the law requires.
